At Reverb DEI, we light the road to a more diverse, more inclusive organization. We will partner with your organization to help you clarify your DEI vision, goals, and roadmap, and to create a culture that supports all of your organization’s stakeholders. Our work is guided by adult learning best practices which emphasize that learning needs to be participant-centered and interactive, where participants and consultants are equal partners in creating effective strategies, and participants own their learning. Our approach also centers the values of the organization, continually tying the work back to strategies that help our clients grow toward who they want to be.
Though we address various marginalized and privileged social identities through multiple frameworks, we lead our work through a racial justice lens. Whenever possible, we utilize a cross-cultural, team-based approach to consulting, training, and facilitation.
Our Team
Laurie Carlsson
Laurie has spent more than a decade working toward social change, including extensive experience in gender, LGTBQIA, and racial justice work. Drawing from change management principles and anti-oppression curricula best practices, Laurie’s facilitation brings participants together through engaging activities and facilitated discussions that build perspective and connection.
Laurie partners with organizations to develop DEI strategies that positively impact culture, center BIPOC (Black, Indigenous, and People of Color) voices, and create structures of accountability for consistent forward motion. She’s led diversity, equity, and inclusion strategies for the University of Washington School of Law, the University of Washington Office of Minority Affairs and Diversity, and a variety of universities, nonprofits organizations, and corporations. Laurie believes that because systems of oppression cause us to circumvent our own humanity, antiracism work cannot only be accomplished by processing intellectually. Our work toward a more just world is heart work, and though we must have grace for ourselves and others through the process, we must also remain focused on accountability. Laurie’s strategic DEI work helps organizations ensure that their vision, mission, and core values are woven into their daily operations, hiring practices, and workplace culture.
Ariel Brown
Ariel is an educator and writer from Seattle Washington whose equity work is grounded in collective liberation and anti-racism. Ariel aims to close the gap between theory and praxis, working with organizations and communities to diversify and reimagine internal structures. She utilizes a holistic approach to strategic planning, project management, and community outreach in order to create a truly equitable culture where all voices are given an opportunity to be heard. She has facilitated trainings and professional development in areas such as restorative justice, culturally responsive practices, core principles of DEI (Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion), and race-based caucusing. She developed and implemented inclusion programs for special education students in districts across California and Washington that are still flourishing today. Her equity work has brought her various partners including Oakland Unified School District, Highline Public Schools, Washington Appellate Project, Climate Solutions, and Ethan Stowell Restaurants.
Driven by the power of community and compassion for humanity itself, Ariel’s work examines current power structures—how they came to be and how they continue to be upheld—in order to work towards dismantling them and forming a truly equitable arena where all voices are given an opportunity to be heard. She moonlights as a bartender and has worked in the service industry for 15+ years, dedicated to creating sustainable workplaces and revolutionizing the way we view service industry workers—ask her about her best/worst cocktail recipes!
